YOUTH SERVICES ASSISTANT 

Part Time (25 Hours Average / Week) 
Non-Exempt

The Roselle Youth Services Department is looking for a passionate and proactive Youth Services Assistant to join our department on a part-time basis as we excitedly work toward the construction of a new facility, expected to be completed in 2027. The ideal candidate will engage well with others, be a dependable and organized self-starter, have an enthusiastic attitude, exercise good judgment, and demonstrate excellent communication skills.  

 

Primary duties will involve creating outstanding events and experiences for our community by: 

Providing reference and readers’ advisory assistance on our service desk 

Creating displays 

Selecting for assigned collection areas 

Planning and presenting engaging programming for children from birth through sixth grade, including Preschool Storytime, with a focus on Grades 3-5  

Providing 3D Printing services to community members of all ages 

Crafting social media posts alongside select Youth Services peers to highlight departmental programs, services, and resources 

 

Your innovative ideas will be welcomed on our lively Youth Services team of 7 as we strive to create an inclusive space that prioritizes quality over quantity. In addition to departmental duties, this staff member will have the opportunity to participate in professional development. 

 

Required 

High school diploma or equivalent required 

A minimum of one year of paid or voluntary experience working directly with children and families 

 

Preferred 

LTA or other relevant Associate’s degree 

Ability to speak multiple languages a plus, particularly Polish or Spanish 

 

This position requires availability for daytime, evening, and weekend hours. The schedule will operate on a rolling four-week basis. The scheduled hours are not seasonal and cannot be adjusted during the academic year. 

 

Week 1: Sunday, 12:30-5pm; Tuesday, 1-9pm; Wednesday, 1-9pm; Thursday, 9-5am 

Week 2: Tuesday, 1-9pm; Wednesday, 9am-5pm; Thursday, 9am-5pm 

Week 3: Tuesday, 1-9pm; Wednesday, 9am-5pm; Thursday, 9am-5pm 

Week 4: Tuesday, 1-9pm; Wednesday, 9am-5pm; Thursday, 9am-2:30pm; Saturday, 9am-5pm 

 

Salary  

Compensation ranging from $16.53 to $20.66 per hour, depending on qualifications and in accordance with internal equity.  

  

Benefits 

After a short waiting period, benefits include vacation, sick, paid holidays, and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.
